The Shorter Catechism states, “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. This is God’s design and greatest pleasure. It’s within this fantastic relational structure that we discover the endless joys and satisfaction, the ‘immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine.’ (Ephesians 3:20) We have been called to a perfectly designed and flawlessly executed plan. It’s the unveiling of God’s love as Jesus revealed it to his surprised disciples 2 000 years ago. It is also the message which takes us by surprise still, even today.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1

“But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, then the veil is taken away. Now, the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, he gives freedom. And all of us have had the veil removed so that we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of he Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more.” 2 Corinthians 3:16-18, The New Living Translation

A quote from C.S. Lewis:
“If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desire not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us; we are like ignorant children who want to continue making mud pies in a slum because we cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a vacation at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
